Mobile blood-collection unit

The concept of a blood donation ambulance is simple. All one needs to do is put a doctor‘s office, an admission room, beds for patients donating blood and the medical equipment in a tourist coach. In other words, one must create a hospital on wheels. Simple? Not really ... This is why Solaris is the only company in Poland that can face such a challenge.
Our first ambulance, based on the Neoplan Transliner tourist coach at that time, was built in 1996. It was ordered by the Regional Blood Donation and Blood Treatment Center in Katowice. The same center bought our first ambulance based on the Vacanza 12 coach. "The ambulance immediately became a success and proved to be a great choice" - recalls Stanisław Deląg, the manager of RCKiK in Katowice. - "It turned out that there are many volunteers who wish to donate blood, all we need to do is to go to them, or speaking more precisely, to drive to them".
Owing to Solaris mobile blood donation stations regional blood donation centers reduced the number of stationary blood donation stations thus reducing the operating costs. The Silesian ambulance depreciated after four years of operation and contributed to the reduction of fixed costs in the Blood Donation Center. It reaches the people who donate blood directly. Thanks to our "vampire-bus" the blood reserves available in the Center have risen significantly, and that‘s exactly what we meant!
As many as six mobile ambulances, which we have lovingly nicknamed "vampire-buses" have left our factory - for RCKiKs in Katowice, Bydgoszcz, Warsaw and Poznań. In 2007 we built our first ambulance for foreign markets - it went to Riga, the capital of Latvia. Our ambulances gained recognition of international jurors at the "Brussels EUREKA" World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and New Technology in Brussels, who as early as in 2000 awarded them with a gold medal. Another honor was a bronze medal during the CONCOURS-LEPINE International Salon of Innovation in Paris in 2004.
